28 Mar Schomberg art gallery’s dedication to Western Student highlights the value of experiential learning
The Olde Mill art gallery in Schomberg paired up two internationally renowned artists with Western student, Alexandria Hesketh-Pavilons, to help her fund-raise for a mission trip to Rawanda.
“What’s more important than the classroom experience is cultural engagement,” Hesketh-Pavilons said, noting they will spend time together outside as well.
Experiential learning is becoming all the more important, employers look for real-world experiences to set candidates apart. Experiential learning builds soft-skills like resilience and adaptability – exactly the kinds of traits necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing economy.
