07 May Ford Government shifts university/college funding to focus on employment outcomes
During the Provincial Budget announcements in April we learned the Ford Government intends to tie post-secondary funding to education outcomes like employment.
CBC recently revealed more details about the funding changes.
Ontario contributes $5 billion annually to post secondary education. The Ford government will be tying 60% of this to outcomes based funding.
We learned yesterday these outcomes will include:
- Graduate earnings.
- Number and proportion of graduates in programs with experiential learning.
- Skills and competencies.
- Proportion of graduates employed full-time in a related or partially-related field.
- Proportion of students in identified area of strength.
- Graduation rate.
